How a leader deals with the circumstances of life tells us many things about his or her character. Crisis doesn’t necessarily make a character, but it does reveal it. Adversity is a crossroad that makes a person choose one of two paths: character or compromise.

Every time the leader chooses a character, he or she becomes stronger, even if that choice brings negative consequences.

There are many things in life we don’t have control over – we don’t select our parents or our natural talents. We do have the opportunity to choose our character. We create our character every time we make choices.  “It’s the inward character that enables a person to stand firm.” – John Maxwell.
